If you are trying to make your yourself better and make life happen you are operating under the personal I egoic construct and you can count on suffering. Every thought that you identify as you, every story that you own and every possession you own as a representation of you is not who you truly are...these things all are taken in as ownership of a separate personal I belief system ("system" is the key word here).

A Course In Miracles sums it up perfectly "Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists, here in lies the peace of God."
