Hide and Go Seek...

"Hide and Go Seek" or "Hide and Seek" was absolutely the best game in the neighborhood growing up. We played all summer long, beginning after supper, playing well into the dark.

On the spiritual path it really is a bit like "Hide and Go Seek!" We Hide behind the image as a separate self believing ourselves to be real... once the question arises "who am I?" or "why are we here?"  the game begins in the pursuit of an answer, in other words the Seeking begins.

Once one realizes that Seeking in and of itself is only a mind game created by the separate personal I self...there is no longer a reason or meaning to Hide! A bit of a game....once seen.

Come out from hiding, drop seeking...game over!

The Me Party...

A few years ago I went to see the newly released Muppet Movie (I am a Muppet fan!) mid way through the movie I burst with laughter at the scene where the leading female star along with Miss Piggy sang:
                  "I'm having a me party
                   A party by myself
                   A me party
                   I don't need nobody else
                   I'm having a me party
I'm the first and last to show
There's no one at this party that I don't already know."

I thought how brilliant...the perfect ego song!  A me party is always happening when ones motivations are coming from a place that makes the "me" (personal I) feel better about itself.

This can be sticky especially when we throw in the moral compass, virtues, doing the "right" thing, etc.. Check in and be honest with where the motivation is coming from and drop "The Me Party."

Your mind will jump to justified...this is just anther thought hiding the truth. See "The Me Party" and you just may burst with laughter!

Nothing external needs to change, it is from within that is required.... anew lens, the lens that has always been there.

Wishing....

The desire to wish for your situation to be different other than it is at this very moment is the thought of desire, wishing running. For most of us desire/wishing runs on automatic pilot without us being aware....like; oh I wish the weather would clear, wish I was anywhere but here right now, wish I could change the situation for you, wish my husband, wife, mate would_____ or were____, I wish we had more______ so we could have/do______.

The desire/ wish list goes on indefinitely, as it can in the construct of duality, that is it's nature.  We make a wish when we blow out the birthday candles, we wish upon the first star, or a shooting star, the wish bone of the chicken, turkey, close your eyes and make a wish.... most cultures have a wishing tradition. The movie "Bucket List" has spurred and deepened the desire for a wish list! And so it goes on....

There is play, a childs game in wishing, this is not what I am pointing to...

If you like check lists...check in how many times you wish/desire things to be different at each moment of the day from what it is, and check in when one says, after this I can relax, rest...once this is done, I will...etc...

Once you see where your attention lies, you will have created space, from here you can accept, enjoy each moment of life. Wishing and desires have nothing to do with life itself.

The wish/desire to be other than where you are at this very moment cloaks the gift of life itself.
